« cartier-bresson himself!!!! »
This is the re-showing of an earlier Henri Cartier-Bresson interview. It was shown when it was announced that he had passed away.

This is essential viewing for all photographers. The only film on Cartier-Bresson worth seeing. The best photographer (or should I say "anarchist") ever answers Charlie's question. Sometimes enlightening and sometimes defiant, but its him in every respect.

The unfortunate thing about this dvd, and it was a rather huge surprise, is that there is no option for subtitling. Cartier-Bresson has a heavy accent when speaking english and at his advanced age here he's even more difficult to hear and understand. He often mumbles in a whisper that is nearly impossible to interpret. You'll find yourself struggling to understand what he says. What you do catch (even if it takes several viewings to get) is worth its weight in gold!

(ps. I've not seen the original showing. I saw this the night it aired and I loved it. There is a little clip at the end of the interview over the credits, where Cartier-Bresson and Charlie toast...its an interesting and touching moment and I imagine it was probably left out of the original showing and shown here as a tribute to the man. I could be wrong. Also, there is a mention of Richard Avedon on this as a "remembrance". He's barely on it, this dvd is almost entirely just the re-showing of that earlier interview)
